Snoop Lion Talks Pimp Past:-- "It Was Never About the Money"

Snoop Lion really was quite the dog back in the day.
"As a kid I dreamed of being a pimp, I dreamed of having cars and clothes and bitches to match," the reggae artist formerly known as rapper Snoop Dogg says in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. "I said, 'F--k it I'm finna do it."
So, as he boasted on 50 Cent's 2003 tune "P.I.M.P.," that's just what he did—and not just by playing Huggy Bear in the Starsky and Hutch movie.
NEWS: Snoop's 4/20 party shut down by police
"I put an organization together," Snoop recalls. "I did a Playboy tour, and I had a bus follow me with 10 bitches on it. I could fire a bitch, f--k a bitch, get a new ho: It was my program."
But, to hear Snoop tell it, his style of pimping wasn't so bad...
"I'd act like I'd take the money from the bitch, but I'd let her have it," he says. "It was never about the money; it was about the fascination of being a pimp."

Your favorite wolfpack is back in The Hangover 3, with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis managing to get into major trouble even --without a wedding-related activity on the calendar. Sandra Bullock plays an uptight FBI special agent and Melissa McCarthy a potty-mouthed Boston cop in The Heat. In We're the Millers, Jason Sudeikis plays a small-time dealer hawking pot to soccer moms—until he gets in a scrape and enlists the help of his stripper neighbor, played by Jennifer Aniston, in a big-stakes trip to Mexico. And Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn play two old-school-style, unemployed salesmen who start all over again from the bottom in The Internship.

Hangover 3 Releasing Early, Jurassic Park 4 Pushed Back

The Wolf Pack is getting a jumpstart on the party while Steven Spielberg's dino-powered franchise will have to wait a little longer before it's big-screen resurrection.
Looking to capitalize on the extended Memorial Day weekend, Warner Bros. confirms to E! News that The Hangover Part III will be opening in theaters on Thursday, May 23, a day earlier than originally scheduled.
The move means the final romp in Todd Phillips' R-rated comedy trilogy, which reunites castmembers Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms, will have a head start against Universal's Fast & Furious 6, which hits theaters Friday. The two tentpoles both skew heavily male, which ought to make for an interesting race at the box office.

How to Be Healthy

Stop engaging in risky behavior. Taking unnecessary risks is hard on the body and mind and can have devastating long-term consequences. Serious or established patterns of risk-taking can also be indicative of deeper psychological problems, in which case you should talk to a health care professional who specializes in a relevant field. Start by setting your sights on one of the following achievements:
Eat well. A light organic breakfast is sufficient and, when combined with a snack mid-morning, will see you through until lunch time. A good time for the evening meal is between 5pm and 8pm depending on your work/study schedule; it is best to avoid late night snacks because they fill you with unnecessary calories and can disrupt your sleep. Once a steady eating pattern has been established, your body will feel more comfortable. Read How to Eat Healthy for more facts

Drink more water. Adult humans should be drinking a litre or more water per day; six eight ounce cups of water. That is in addition to diuretics like tea and coffee. Water keeps bodies at the correct temperature and removes toxins that are the inevitable result of metabolism and industrial life. Water-rich foods are an even better idea.
Get in shape. In addition to helping you lose weight and gain confidence, exercising has a host of other benefits for your body and mind. For example, having good cardiovascular health has been linked to a decreased risk of Alzheimer’s.Exercising also boosts your immune system; even a change as minor as walking briskly for twenty to thirty minutes a day five days a week can improve your immune system by increasing both your antibody and T-killer cell response.Exercising is also one of the absolute best ways to sleep better at night– which, as previously mentioned, can help you lose weight by keeping you from overeating. Maintain your personal hygiene. Wash your hands often, especially after visiting the bathroom at home or using the restrooms in a public place. Floss and brush your teeth and tongue after eating; food particles are often the cause of bad breath and gum disease. Visit your dentist regularly for cleanings and to catch any problems before they become serious. See How to Be Hygienic for more details...
Find emotional balance. Even if you master every other aspect of health, it won’t feel complete if you’re suffering from inner turmoil. Everyone needs a pick-me-up sometimes, and there are many small things that you can do to feel better about yourself. If the problem extends deeper, you may need to learn to cope with emotional pain or even depression...
Exercise daily or if not possible twice or thrice a week. It will increase your metabolic rate and you'll feel fresh the whole week...

Improve your sleep quality. When you sleep, your body produces cells that fight infection, inflammation, and stress – which means that getting too little sleep or poor-quality sleep not only makes you more prone to getting sick, but also increases the time you need to recover from illness. On top of that, a study conducted by The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition demonstrated that men who slept for 4 hours consumed 500 more calories than they did after sleeping for 8 hours....

Windows 8 Milestones: 100 Million Licenses Sold, 60,000 Apps

The PC market is continuing to drive off a cliff, but at least now more passengers are running Windows 8. Microsoft says it's sold 100 million licenses for Windows 8 so far, up from 60 million in January. At the same time, the Windows Store has hit 60,000 apps.

As for how many of those licenses represent PCs that are actually being used, it's hard to say. The 100 million includes upgrades as well as PC sales. However, the vast majority of the 40 million licenses sold since January are new PCs, says Tami Reller, Microsoft's vice president of Windows marketing.

"Upgrade season was pretty much over in January once all the offers expired," Reller told Mashable. "So pretty much all of the growth from 60 to 100 [million] is new PCs."

However, those are PCs shipped, not necessarily sold, so many of them could still be in warehouses or store shelves. Windows 8, however, for the first time lets Microsoft directly track activations online, and Reller says those numbers have seen "steady" growth, and that the overall rate is similar to past Windows releases.

A new platform such as Windows 8 is only as powerful as the apps it has to offer, and the Windows Store is seeing steady growth as well, up to 60,000 apps from 40,000 in January. Customers have performed more than 250 million downloads as well. While the numbers are moving in the right direction for Microsoft, they're still in the minor leagues when you compare to iOS's 800,000 apps and almost 50 billion downloads.

Still, Microsoft has had some high-profile "gets" such as Twitter and Dropbox, which Reller thinks have attracted some users to Windows 8. But there are some notable absences in the Windows 8 app catalog as well, not the least of which is Facebook, a Microsoft strategic partner. Is a Facebook app coming?

Sony Goes Entry-Level With Vaio Fit Laptops

Think Sony's Vaio laptops are too expensive? The company is challenging that perception with its new Fit and Fit E lines of Windows 8 PCs, aimed at customers who want to "step up" from cheap laptops, but still pay as little as possible...

The Fit line prioritizes design with aluminum casings, while the Fit E is about as thin and light as possible. Both lines have two models: a 14-incher with 1,600 x 900 resolution, and a 15-inch with a full HD (1,920 x 1,080) display...

The screens on the Fit include include color-enhancement technology for a better picture when playing games or watching movies, and its ClearAudio+ audio processing can provide a virtual surround-sound experience. Customers can choose between screens with or without touch...

There are many configurations possible — from an Intel Core i3 CPU all the way up to Core i7 — as well as optional Nvidia graphics. Hybrid hard drives, which pair a small solid-state drive (SSD) with a large hard disk for fast performance, are available as an option...

The Fit 14 and 15 start at $649 and $699, respectively, while the Fit 14E and 15E cost $549 and $579...

Besides launching its Fit machines, Sony is also updating its Tap 20 all-in-one 20-inch mega-tablet with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) tech, as well as the Sony Vaio Imagination Studio software. The Tap 20 costs $899...

Internet Sales Tax Sails Through Senate

The Marketplace Fairness Act, also known as the "Internet Sales Tax," passed the Senate Monday evening on a bipartisan vote of 69-27. The bill, long expected to find Senate success, now moves to the House of Representatives and an uncertain future.

Currently, customers shopping at online retailers that lack a physical presence in the customer's state aren't charged sales tax when they purchase goods. Instead, they're expected to report such purchases in their annual tax filings. Few online shoppers actually do so, costing states an estimated $11 billion in lost tax revenue and giving what some commentators argue is an unfair competitive advantage to online sellers.

The Marketplace Fairness Act (MFA) is designed to close this loophole. It would allow states to require online retailers collect and remit sales tax from out-of-state customers to the appropriate state. Online retailers making less than $1 million annually would be exempt...

Owners of brick-and-mortar retail stores, who hope the MFA will help them compete with online retailers, applauded the Senate's vote...

"The Senate’s overwhelmingly bipartisan passage of this legislation foreshadows the end of the special treatment of big online businesses at the expense of retailers on Main Street," said Bill Hughes, senior vice president for government affairs at the Retail Industry Leaders Association, in a statement. "After such a resounding vote in the Senate, we look forward to a constructive debate in the House to level the playing field for all retailers this year."

Bay, however, is urging the House to consider an amendment that would increase the MFA's small business exemption to include online retailers making less than $10 million annually or those with fewer than 50 employees....

"The contentious debate in the Senate shows that a lot more work needs to be done to get the Internet sales tax issue right, including ensuring that small businesses using the Internet are protected from new burdens that harm their ability to compete and grow," said Brian Bieron, eBay's senior director of global public policy. "eBay will continue to focus on bringing greater balance to the legislation by protecting small businesses with less than $10 million in sales or fewer than 50 employees."

The Obama administration supports the MFA, so it will likely become law if it does pass the House. Is it time for an Internet sales tax? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Pebble Smart Watch Finally Gets RunKeeper App

The Pebble smart watch, which was made hugely popular when it raised more than $10 million on Kick starter last year, can finally display real-time fitness information related to workouts.

Run Keeper announced Tuesday an app update for iOS and Android that fully integrates with the Pebble watch, allowing runners to keep track of their activity and providing a detailed analysis of their performance.
The companies have been teasing this news for a little over a year now; in fact, Run-keeper was Pebble's first app partner. The blending of these two companies could be powerful. There's already an immense interest in the smart watch, and teaming up with Run-keeper will give users a way to stay connected without constantly needing to check their smartphone.
"Pebble integrates tech into people's daily lives in a fashionable and unobtrusive way. We're excited that Run-keeper will be among the first apps to showcase our smart watch's capabilities and how we support your day-to-day interests and activities," said Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky in a statement. "With the Run-keeper app, fitness enthusiasts can benefit from Pebble to track their workouts, get motivated and meet their goals."
Pebble users can also control music and manage incoming messages, calls and notifications directly through the device. Developers can get their hands on a software developer's kit (sdk) to introduce more apps to the device.

Google Maps to Unveil Brand New Interface, Report Says [PICS]

Google is set to debut a new interface for its Maps app, according to a report.

Google Operating System, a blog that provides unofficial news about the search giant, said the update will get rid of Maps' current sidebar, and will display location information in pop-ups that appear on top of a full-screen map. The new design places greater emphasis on the map itself, rather on navigational tools such as the direction arrows and zoom functions.

Another new feature of the revamped app will reportedly let users filter local search results to venues that are recommended by top reviews or people in their Google+ circles.

The blog also includes alleged images of Maps' new interface, which appears more immersible  and suited to touchscreen mobile devices. Check them out. below....

While Google Operating System did not say when users will see the overhauled interface, the blog hinted that it could debut at Google I/O, the company's annual developers conference, next week...

Ergonomic Case for Tablets Aims to Help You Avoid Carpal Tunnel

An ergonomic case for tablets and e-readers aims to help users avoid the perils of Carpal tunnel syndrome and other hand-related ailments.

Called Wingo, the case has "wings" on either side, under which users place their hands to hold the device. According to its Kickstarter page, it aims to address problems that revolve around reading for long periods of time by reducing grip tension, filling the contours of users' fingers with grooves and allowing users to place their hands, wrists and forearms in a more "natural" reading position.

Currently, Wingo is available only for the Kindle 4, but creator Ambulant plans to develop cases for other types of e-readers and tablets by getting feedback from its Kickstarter backers.

So far, Wingo has raised just over $17,000 of its $55,000 goal, with 37 days left in its campaign....

10 Cool Cooking Lifehacks

1. Remove Fats
If you drop a couple of ice cubes into a soup/stew/casserole, you'll soon see easily scoopable fat globules. This is because the fat starts to congeal in the colder area you have created.

2. Pre-Scoop Ice Cream
Portion out ice-cream or other frozen sweets before your meal into a muffin pan then stick it back in the freezer. This way you don't have to wait for the dessert to soften before you can scoop and make guests wait.

3. Prevent Over-Boiling
If you rest a wooden spoon across a pan of boiling water it stops it from boiling over.

4. Freeze Your Scraps
Freeze leftover wine, stock and fresh herbs in ice-cube trays. This saves waste and makes for tasty chunks of thrifty, frozen goodness to melt into future meals.

5. Drip-Free Stirring
To save your counter tops from sticky mess, tuck your sauce spoon into the hole in the handle of your saucepan. This way it will drip neatly into the pot when you're not stirring.

6. Stay Fresh
A hinged clothes peg makes a good impromptu bag fastener to keep things fresh.

7. The Perfect Ginger Peel
Peel ginger root with a teaspoon. The flat edge is more than sharp enough to rub the thin skin off and it's less wasteful than a knife or peeler.

8. Replace Ice Cubes With Frozen Fruit
Use frozen fruit to chill drinks. Grapes work well in white wine and strawberries are great with fizz. This makes for a less watery drink with a sweet treat at the end.

9. Get Rid of Egg Shell
If you get shell fragments in a broken egg, use a cracked shell half to scoop them out -- it's much more efficient than using your finger.

NB. As per Josephine Fu's comment, there is a small salmonella risk in letting eggshell touch raw food.

10. Personalized Steaks
Finally, if you learn the simple finger/hand test for cooking steak to perfection, you'll always be able to deliver a fillet cooked correctly to anyone's personal preference.
